A collection of snail eggs was found on a stick several meters under water in the Gulf of Thailand. While some eggs successfully hatched, others lost their structural integrity and began attracting hungry ciliates and flagellates.

A day later, the microorganisms had multiplied and destroyed most of the remaining snail embryos.
