Coleps is a small single-cell ciliate known in the microcosmos as a voracious hunter. Its barrel-shaped body is surrounded by regularly shaped plates of calcium carbonate.

In this video, Coleps tears open another organism to feed on its cytoplasm. Soon, other Coleps sense the released cytoplasm through chemotaxis and join in the feast.
