Brachionus urceolaris _s.l.

Brachionus urceolaris _s.l. is a Rotifer, a multicellular micro animal.

Rotifers have 3 distinct parts: head, trunk and foot. Many rotifers, such as B. urceolaris _.s.l., live inside a shell called a lorica.

Anterior and posterior openings allow the corona and foot to extend. the corona, a crown of cilia, creates a vortex that draws in food. Toes at the end of the foot contain cement glands to hold it in place.

Brachionus urceolaris _s.l. is mostly parthenogenetic, its eggs dvelop into embryos without fertilization. Most eggs hatch within 24 hours. Females can produce 10 generations in their short 3-5 day lives.
