Rotifer eating a Euglenoid

Rotifers are multicellular micro animals found in both freshwater and marine environments. Many Rotifers are filter feeders, eating algae and bacteria, but some species are more carnivorous. Here a Rotifer ingests a Euglenoid, a single-cell flagellate. The process is quite violent as the Rotifer sucks all of the cytoplasm out of the Euglenoid.
