Marine Mangroves – Gulf of Thailand

We traveled about an hour south of home, to the southernmost area of Bangkok along the Gulf of Thailand, an area called Bang Pu. The sea shore has no sand here, just sediment that is constantly churned into the water column. My plankton net quickly filled up with sediment, so I was unable to concentrate plankton as I originally intended. However there was an amazing amount of life in the water samples taken from mangroves alongside the shoreline.

This video shows the first mangrove location we sampled from. The seashore is another 20 meters in the direction we are walking.
