Testate Amoeba Arcella

Testate Amoeba differ from naked Amoeba in that they live inside protective shells called tests. Arcella is a genus of freshwater testate Amoeba that lives inside a dome-shaped test with a single opening for the Amoeba’s pseudopodia to exit.

This water sample from a pond in Lumpini Park in Bangkok, Thailand was filled with Arcella.
