I only just discovered this 101 acre park 3 miles from my house, right in the heart of Bangkok. Only blocks from the Asoke BTS station, Ben Jakitti Park is a jewel, standing on land that for decades was dominated by factories that were part of the country’s government controlled tobacco lobby.

Update: Samples fromo Ben Jakitti park were lackluster at best. I believe they must be treating the water which kills the microorganisms. There were a few things alive in the samples, but most of the organisms I found were dead, and there weren’t many of those! The park will be a great place to visit for peaceful walks, but I’ll be collecting my water samples elsewhere.
