Epistylis is a single cell freshwater Peritrich with a rigid stalk. Amphileptus and Euglenoids are well-known microscopic hunters. It is likely that after the initial Amphileptus attack, other organisms sensed some of the released cytoplasm through chemotaxis and were attracted to the prey.
